How to do a Half Moon Manicure (reverse french manicure)?

How do I do one at home?
I tried to last night (I have those nail markers, the ones for french manicures), but it didn’t come out so well, so how can I do a good one?

ok, its really easy when you know how. i love this look and do it all the time.

first gather up all of the necessary items, top and base coat, nail polishes, stickers, nail polish remover, cotton wool, etc.

first remove any old polish using a nail varnish remover (acetone-free is best as it doesnt damage your nails) and some cotton wool. then push your cuticles back with a q-tip covered in a few wisps of cotton wool to make it softer. if you find this hard, first apply some cuticle oil to soften your cuticles. then apply your base coat, this will help protect your nails. i use sally hansen and find it works great. then apply a coat of quick drying pink nail varnish. then leave for at least 20 mins so it can dry thoroughly. apply sticker along your half moons, or make your own tip line. apply your sticker tightly over the curve of your nail, without covering the part of the nail that you want colored.

paint the white on carefully for even coverage to your half moons, the sticker will protect areas you want paint free. apply another sticker if you want the free edge of your nail painted too. be careful that you get an all over even white colour. give the nail polish several minutes to dry, and then slowly remove the sticker. i like to leave mine at least half an hour, perhaps just while im watching tv and not doing anything. once you have done that apply a top coat. sally hansen and lots of other brands do all in one top and base coats so you only need to buy one product.

if you want a more natural look to it, once your nails are dry you can apply a clear or very light sheer pink top coat. this will tone the white down a little so it looks more subtle. finish with some cuticle oil and your done! good luck.
